There is so much to do in Africa. You don’t realize how big this continent is until you start trying to travel and explore here. When we moved here, I started a wish list of places to go and things to do. Close to the top of that list was Mauritius. Two weeks after I got back from the USA, I had to the opportunity to get away for a long weekend with Reid. It was just the two of us and it was a trip full of relaxation and bliss.
There isn’t a heck of a lot to do on the island. I’ve done tea plantations and sugar plantations, so we opted for some beach time and activities. The resort had kayaks, sailboats, and snorkeling so there really was no reason to leave.
Reid and I spent some time on a Hobie cat, which we haven’t done in years. There were four restaurants and they were all fantastic. I did take pictures of the food, but they came out terrible due to the lighting. Every day, they have an experience you can take part in. We did a wine tasting, but they also have painting, henna, cooking, yoga, stargazing, and rum tasting. In the end, the trip was pure relaxation and was exactly what we both needed. We went back to Joburg recharged and ready to take on the holidays.

Yeah, I know. But, we work hard, so we play hard. If you get the chance to go to Mauritius, I highly recommend it for a beach vacation. Three or four days is all you need – don’t forget your sunscreen.
