Yes, I know this is a bit late but here it is anyways! Here in South Africa, we went into a nationwide hard lockdown March 17th. We are still in a lockdown, although it’s not as strict as it once was. As I write this, we are five hours away from moving to level 2 of our phased lockdown. This means we will be able to travel within South Africa, and alcohol and cigarette bans will be lifted. I don’t smoke, but being able to buy a drink will be nice! As will being able to get out of my house and travel again. Five months. Eish! as we say here in SA. Actually, being at home wasn’t horrible. We stayed busy! Reid works from home and the kids finished the school year online. Cameron had a virtual graduation and will start at Wits University here in Joburg in January. 2020 has been crazy, ya’ll!!

We entertained ourselves well. We have incredible sunsets, so we took advantage of the time to enjoy backyard camping, fires in the firepit, and many braai’s (bbq’s). There were also many games, puzzles, projects, and LOTS of cooking. We also watched safaris on Wild Earth.

Can’t forget the food!

Just before lockdown I was gifted some black truffles. It was a perfect excuse to make homemade ravioli. I filled them with a ricotta, parmesan, goat cheese, truffle, and basil filling finished with a white wine mushroom cream sauce. Yes, it was absolutely as good as it looks.

Oh, and then there was Easter. We had an egg hunt and chocolate eggs and mimosas, then a big traditional dinner. Yes, my kids are 18 and 16, but who cares? We never did find that last egg….

We also had prom at home for Cameron and Georgia, and Reid and I started a weekly tradition of a picnic lunch date on Wednesdays. We also entertained ourselves with the pampered poodle. He’s never boring.

So yeah, that’s how we’ve spent the last five months. Work and play. Life is good. Could be a heck of a lot worse!!! I hope you all were able to enjoy some good times with family. I’ll be posting soon about my project that I completed as well. Too much for one post! See you soon!
