We woke at 5:30 and packed up camp. Today we would drive all the way through the park to the opposite side and stay in Etosha Village. We were on the road by 8:30. We saw cheetah in Fischer’s pan, an elephant in the road, a spotted hyaena on the road to Halali camp, lions with a zebra kill, and more rhino.
We got into Etosha village in the late afternoon and got cleaned up for our evening. Included in our stay was one of those experiences I was talking about. We went for a private sundowner at 6:30. Snacks, beers and cold drinks were enjoyed while watching the sunset. We were back at the lodge at 8 for dinner. It was a really nice evening!
Etosha was a beautiful park and I’m glad we went. We had some fantastic animal sightings. However, we will most likely not return. Sadly, the camps inside and outside of the park are suffering badly from neglect. It was and still is the only place in Namibia that was run down and a bit disappointing, clearly starting long before Covid came along. It was the kind of thing you would expect to find in other places in Africa, but not Namibia. Compared to the National Parks in Botswana and South Africa, it just doesn’t compete. Regardless, we had a great time and enjoyed the amazing scenery and animals!
Part four coming soon!
Those animal sightings are amazing. Thankfully I wasn’t subjected to photos of the dilapidated shindigs! Kidding. I still can’t get over how much of the world you guys are getting to explore. Love it. Keep it coming. Love you.
Love the sunset with Lian and the animals…bam starting off with an astonishing elephenat.
At least the deck at the camp looks perfect– great shot to end this! And the sightings!!!!!!
