Sometimes, life has it’s own ways of slowing you down. I’ve been trying to get some time to catch up on the blog and it just wasn’t happening. Last week, I broke my toe. I didn’t stay off of it because I’m stubborn – so now I’m paying for it. I’ll be off of it for a couple of weeks anyways. Time to catch up on the blog!

Ohio is a popular place with my friends. I have at least four different groups of friends who live there, and I now understand why. My next stop was Cincinnati. I had more awesome people to go see! In my past life, I worked with an amazing group of people who became like my family. We traveled around the country opening new restaurants and getting up to any number of shenanigans at any given time. Mandy and Jeff Kaplan, and Mary and Freddy Nehring all live in the Cincy area now. It’s really a fantastic place to be, especially since it’s right next to Kentucky. Enter the bourbon.

I had no idea there were so many distilleries in the area and so much incredible food! Mandy and Jeff showed me the town and introduced me to the wonderful world of select picks and bourbon tasting. I had so much incredible bourbon and I learned more in the two days I was there than I could have imagined. Here are some of the highlights.

Oh yeah, and the food! No trip to Cincinnati is complete without chili…..

Honestly, I could have spent a week there. You know how you have those friends who really know how to take care of their guests and spoil their friends? I have some of those. Both Mandy and Jeff dropped everything to show me their city. I can’t thank them enough. They are both hospitality people and they showed me their favorite spots. It’s a foodie’s dream. Jeff also sent me home with a bottle of Blanton’s which I shared with Reid during our Christmas vacation. It was cherished and of course, we loved it! I thought I had a bottle at home, but it somehow mysteriously disappeared…. Sadly, I did not get any pictures of all of us together so I guess I have to go back sometime. Thank you Mandy, Jeff, Mary, and Freddy! We will do it again 🙂 Until next time, Cincinnati!
